I whipped up a quick batch of swirly and splatter brushes, a few lines and a bit of a smokey look to them – 7 brushes in all:

My first set of Photoshop brushes in a long time (there are only two in this set, I’m getting used to my new Photoshop and want to make sure I haven’t made a bunch of huge mistakes, lol!). Light & bubble ‘bokeh’ brushes with a little blur. Let me know if this downloads and installs correctly!

I haven’t been to my old church in ages, not since my step dad’s funeral, so when my mom and Ken asked me to go help them clean up before Sunday I decided to poke around and take some photos.

Well, there goes all mine if the stuff. My brushes, my wallpapers, my fonts, my programs. Everything gone.

Unfortunately, this may mean that I blog a lot less. Though I’m sure that a lot of people wouldn’t mind me shutting up for awhile, lol!

A lot of people complained about Seth McFarlane’s hosting of the Oscars on Sunday night, and I haven’t had a chance to watch any of it yet. They put it up on Hulu, thank the Gods, but I’m only 15 minutes into it and already I love it. If it’s because he was offensive, frigging welcome to Seth McFarlane, lol.

Seth McFarlane at The Oscars

My favorite moment so far has to be a tie between William Shatner’s appearance (insanely cool device to get in McFarlane’s ADHD sketches), and “We haven’t seen Jennifer Lawrence’s boobs at all!” cut to Jennifer Lawrence being adorably with it in the audience.

So far, I love it – Dan Radcliffe, The Flying Nun stunt, The Way You Look Tonight (though Charleze Theron and Channing Tatum were incredibly awkward in comparison to my Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers), all of it – what did you think?

I just finished watching last night’s episode (I Ain’t A Judas) of AMC’s amazing, perfect and beautiful Zombie drama, “The Walking Dead”, and I have to tell you it’s fantastic to watch a show and not know what’s going to happen for once. AMC’s great about that kind of thing, with TWD and Mad Men, Breaking Bad, etc. – all shows I have a real hard time predicting the outcome of. A couple of very quick praises and bitches:

The Walking Dead

Yes, it’s really hard to predict – and last night was no different. I have little idea what to expect, but I have to say this – Rick, do *not* bring Carl to Woodbury! I don’t care how good a shot he is, or what a man you think he is, or how crazy you are at this point but he’s your son and he’s also just a kid! Is Glenn really this far off the deep end, that even Rick is like, “Whoa, maybe you need a little lie down?” and would rather take Carl to a gun fight instead? You stupid idiot.

Of course I’m happy that Daryl’s back, that Andrea’s alright for the time being, and pissed at Rick for sending Tyrese and company out to be cannon fodder for The Governor.

My favorite moment of the episode came when Merle and Hershel had their talk, and I’m hoping Merle stays as calm as he is right now. Also really liked the whole Hershel yelling at Rick thing, because someone needs to yell at this dude. Or slap him, or some other such thing, lol.

I’m way too tired to make any sense but pretend I did, anyway. :P

I’m off to catch up on TV. It’s Talking Dead time!

I was talking to my mother on the phone tonight, and I had to cut it short because I wanted to get in my last major offerings of the week before Midnight. To my surprise, she asked me whether or not she could participate in the ritual, and I told her that for a Christian it’s sacrilege because this is the ritual of ancestor worshippers.

And she asked me how she could do it, so I told her – the even more surprising part is that she made the statement (one that sounded sincere, actually) that she wanted to start giving equal worship attention to all religions, and not just her own. I really hope she’s serious, because I have to tell you, there’s no quicker way to inner peace than to be in harmony with all deities to the extent that you possibly can be.

Know what’s neat? Being an adult and not having to eat my mom’s awful cooking.  What she didn’t burn she undercooked, and if it wasn’t a desert it was water logged. Everything was swimming in gravy, oil and butter and a fresh vegetable was the kind of miracle that was usually heralded by angels and accompanied by the travel of wise men.

So, I’m sitting here, munching on a veggie burger and a bowl of steamed broccoli and cauliflower and having a giggle to myself because my veggies don’t have butter on them, and you can’t spread them like mayonnaise. Life is sweet.

It isn’t easy to get Lily to sit for any. Of time, let alone get her to sit for a photograph. But, we did it, check it out!

Lily in snow

She had a great day, today, just running around in the snow every time we went for a walk. Nobody loves the snow like Lily!

Snow Day!

First of all, sorry about the downtime – I have no idea what’s up, but I’ve contacted my host about it.

So, we managed to cap off a week of somewhat nuts temperatures with a buttload of snow. A lakeload. A starload. It’s so cold that Minnie, the evil Kitty, can’t live in her current spot in the vestibule, she’s now sleeping on a couch in the warm-enough sitting room, purring her butt off.

Hopefully this snow goes bye bye before I have to kill it!

As you might already know, I work for a radio show running the booth and booking guests. During my time running the booth, I’ve had some influence as to what music is played (we play pre-1962 music and radio commercials from about the same time). One of the hosts loves the music, but the other has kicked and screamed about the music – especially the very old stuff (say, from the teens-1930s) – but, every now and then, we get a guest who loves the music.

That’s what happened on the evening show last night. The guest, who was talking about ways to properly deal with grief and suffering (very cool stuff, very insightful, too), had to grind the show to a halt after the second break. We played Ritchie Valens, “Donna”, and the guest gushed that he was in 10th grade when that song came out, and we helped him to find and re-live a good memory. A pool party he had forgotten about. He said it was a trip down Memory Lane, and thanked us for that.

We’re getting it more and more because we’re playing more Du Wop and Maltshop Memories-type stuff than we used to, and we’re hearing from people who vividly remember where they were when they first heard that song. One song that’s gotten that response more than once is Betty Everett’s classic, “Shoop Shoop Song”:

I know I’m getting old, because I feel that way when the radio plays Semicharmed Life, lol. But it’s so cool to be able to do that for someone, even if it was by accident!
